Weekly Schedule for 2016-2017
Registration for our spring semester is NOW OPEN! Classes start the week of January 8th!
Ballet: One of the most important foundations for all dance forms. Instruction will emphasize proper technique with a sensitivity to each student's current level and natural ability. These classes will focus on developing proper skeletal alignment, muscle development and flexibility in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Contemporary: Contemporary dance works with the natural alignment of the body, and is therefore safe for beginners while allowing experienced dancers to be pushed to new boundaries of body movement. This class will leave you feeling refreshed and inspired!
Breakdance: This amazing class will focus on teaching the intricate footwork, power moves and freezes of breaking while encouraging students to bring their own personality and creativity to the movement.
Jazz: Get yourself kicking, turning and jumping - this class will focus on developing the basics of jazz technique. Each class includes centre or at the barre technique, across-the-floor patterns and a final combination of movement that develops coordination and strength.
Hip Hop: Get your groove on in this fun-filled, high-energy class that will help enhance your stamina, coordination and confidence.
Intro to Dance: This class introduces our youngest dancers to several styles of dance, gets them moving to the beat, and gets them learning to create movement in a group all while developing proper dance techniques.
Jazz/Tap and Jazz/HipHop: Here's your chance to try out a bit of each of these styles. Half the class you will learn jazz foundations and the other half of the class you will learn tap or hiphop basics. Fun!
Esteem Ballet: This ballet class is designed with the mature woman in mind. No body suits, no tights, no barre, no mirrors, no recital performance. The class will offer ballet foundations, gentle stretching and beautiful simple choreographies. You've waited a whole lifetime to learn ballet, here's your chance. Wear what you like - ballet slippers are the only requirement.
Dancing for your Healing: This class is focussed on the connection of the whole person (body/soul/spirit) using breathing and movement to facilitate this interconnecting. DFYH delves a little further into emotions and where they are held in the body and using movement to begin to express some of that unhealed feeling. Students are welcome to move as much or as little as they so choose. Discussion often follows class experiences to help students to unpack each class.
